Welcome to the new week. I hope you enjoyed your long weekend!
This week, I’ve put together a few thoughts on motivation… this applies to Naperville home buyers, home sellers and real estate agents / brokers looking for a little bit of inspiration as you take on the Fall market in Naperville and the Chicago Western Suburbs.
Here’s a reminder:
When you believe in yourself, you can move forward and make decisions boldly and with confidence. Trusting yourself allows you to have faith in your ideas, talents and abilities, even when others doubt you. It is amazing how many great men and women throughout history, who accomplished great things, were considered a bit crazy by the general public. Their beliefs were their driving force until they achieved the end result. People thought Amelia Earhart was out of her mind to think she could fly as well as a man. Thomas Edison’s ideas were considered ridiculous, and Katherine Graham was told she would fail when she took over the Washington Post.
We all have potential and greatness within us, but we need to reach inside and pull it out! Confidence is inner faith. Building confidence is somewhat like building a house. If a truck pulled up and unloaded everything to build a house, and you had never built a house, it would seem quite daunting. Looking at a huge project which you have never attempted feels overwhelming, but it you break it into many small tasks, you can start to move forward. Building inner faith is a lot like that. It’s normal to start off thinking “Hey, I can’t do that! I’ve never done it before.” Stop saying you can’t, and start saying, “Why not?” Most people find that if they start with small successes, they can easily start to build their confidence for larger, more challenging projects or goals.
You also need external support and motivation. As Aristotle suggested, look around you. Look at those who have succeeded before you and borrow confidence from them. Learn from their actions as well as their mistakes. Use them as role models and their accomplishments as mirrors for your own, yet to be fulfilled, accomplishments!
Something to Think About:
Each of you has a special DNA which is inherent to your strengths, talents and passions. It’s what makes you unique and it must be decoded if you are to discover your life purpose. We succeed when we discover that purpose. The challenge that we face is discovering that path, which is unique to us, and trusting ourselves enough to take that path. When you begin to trust yourself, you will see and know the path that has been reserved for you. Traveling down that path will engage your spirit and ignite your soul. It’s what they call, Living in the Zone. And that’s where all the good stuff happens!
Challenge Yourself This Week:
This is something that many people struggle with or need in their life. We all need someone who believes in us, someone who encourages us and gives us a thumbs up for a job well done. Your children, family, friends, and co-workers. Who can you “lift up” today by giving them a boost in their confidence? What about tomorrow? Let’s all make an intentional effort to recognize the gifts, talents and abilities of those around us at least one time per day, every day this week. Of course you may have so much fun helping others find their path, their joy, and their confidence, that you may decide to continue it …forever!
