Wishing You And Your Families A Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!
I have a lot to give thanks for this year, personally and for Ryan Hill Realty. I am celebrating this Thanksgiving with my wonderful family and am determined not to be distracted by relentless emails and phone calls, you’ll see why as you read through this post. I did want to take a few minutes to write this blog post because we have so much to share with you and are way too excited to keep it to ourselves!
Here is what we are thankful for at Ryan Hill Realty:
- Our clients are all wonderful friends – we are always grateful for their trust in our abilities and continued support by referring us!
- We welcome our amazing new Broker and Agents to the family. We are so honored to be a part of their business growth and look forward to an amazing future together.
- Our existing Brokers and Agents ARE family, one that always works together to bring the best of the best to our clients
- Our Management team has grown! We welcome Beau Ruehl as our new General Manager!
- We have become affiliated with Leverage Global Partners and are now their sole affiliates for the Chicago market – this means that we have international and national reach, allowing us to help re-locators to and from the Chicago area!
These are just some of this top points we are grateful for. I’ll fill you in on more news as we bring this year to a close. Until then, here are a few thoughts on Thanksgiving!
This is a special week for many people in Naperville and throughout North America. A time of reflection about those things we are thankful for, the joy and blessings that we experienced in 2014, and the relationships which we value. But it should not be limited to just holiday seasons each year. Why not encourage everyone you know to take few moments this week to reflect on what they are thankful for. In this crazy, fast-paced life we lead, we rarely take the time to shut off the phones, turn off the computer, and just enjoy those in our company. We have all become so caught up in the world of multi-tasking, and never shutting down, that we are actually accomplishing less, without actually realizing it. A new study from Stanford shows that multi-tasking, with several digital devices, actually causes us to get less done, but more importantly, caused brain damage! We were not designed to do several things at one time. We are designed to do one thing at a time, and to enjoy that moment. Enjoy the person we are with. Enjoy the conversation. What better time to start some new habits? It’s not easy, but if you start now, you can start the New Year with a whole new focus.
Something to Think About:
Are you thinking, “I can’t believe that I actually get less done, and do it less effectively? I am a GREAT multitasker!” Research shows that those who think they are great multitaskers, are often the worst! We live in a world that expects fast results, but our clients value great results. They will wait for the best agents, so sit back. Enjoy that dinner, enjoy your company, and enjoy your life!
Spend the week doing one thing at a time. No multi-tasking. No watching TV while sitting at the computer. No texting at the table during dinner. Turn off those phones during dinner, and important conversations. Those who you care about will appreciate it. It’s perfectly acceptable to change your VM message to say, “Thank you for calling. I hope that you are enjoying the day with family and friends. I am also enjoying the day with my family. Please leave a message and I will return the call tomorrow.”
Words of Wisdom:
“It’s very important that we re-learn the art of resting and relaxing. Not only does it help prevent the onset of many illnesses that develop through chronic tension and worrying; it allows us to clear our minds, focus, and find creative solutions to problems.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
“I am a perfectionist but I know how to live life. When I’m working, it’s 100%. When I’m with my friends, I put everything away and enjoy life. When I come home to my kids, it is pure joy and everything’s worth it. Every time, I really focus 100 percent on one thing. I’ve learned how to juggle my life and I feel like now I have the perfect balance.” – Monique Lhuillier
“One reason so few of us achieves what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.” – Tony Robbins
“Our thoughts create our reality – where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go.” – Peter McWilliams
“Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.” – Tony Robbins
